Regionals Preview
The 2013-2014 ECRHA Regional Tournament is here and both Huskies teams look to make their mark on the competition. The Division I team is set to perform as they come in at 3rd in the ECRHA behind Neumann and Hofstra. The B team is also ranked 3rd behind Rowan and Slippery Rock.
Both teams come into this season with a renewed intensity and sights set in the future for nationals. This weekend will be a test for both teams, as they want to affirm themselves at the pinnacle of the ECRHA.
In addition to the tournament two huskies were nominated for ECRHA awards. Mike Gwon and Luke Lindsay-Brisbin have both been selected as candidates for Division I player of the year and as Division I goalie of the year. Both awards are to be presented at the Regionals banquet. Good luck to all of the huskies as they begin competition on Friday March 7th in Feasterville, PA!
Regular Season Wrap-Up
As the regular season comes to a close the huskies look to continue their success in regionals. Both the DI and B teams have qualified to play in nationals. The DI team (13-5-0) has finished third in the ECRHA while the B team (11-3-2) finished third as well.
The boys will be bringing a new intensity to regionals, as both teams want to affirm their positions as top competitors not only in the league but also in the country. According to NCRHA Coast-2-Coast the DI team is tied for 9th in the country while the B team is sitting at 8th.
In Dracut, MA the Huskies sported a new third jersey in honor of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The Huskies wore digital camouflage jerseys with the IFHF logo on one shoulder and an American Flag on the other. NU continues to be charitable this year with these jerseys, as last year they wore pink jerseys for the month of October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
The entire Northeastern Roller Hockey program would like to thank all of the parents and supporters for making it easier to travel and rest during tournaments and games. Thank you all for a great regular season!

6 HUSKIES SELECTED FOR ALL-STAR TEAMS
As a direct result of hard work, dedication and production six huskies were selected to be on the DI and B All-star teams. For DI: Robert Lerro, Michael Gwon, and Luke Lindsay-Brisbin, for B:Conner Peterson, and Dane Osmanski.
#49 Robert Lerro – Born and raised in South Boston, the 2012-2013 DII Player of the Year, has been able to notch 28 points with 10 goals and 18 assists in 11 games. Lerro has made an all-star team 3 times in a row in the 2011-2012, 2012-2013, and in the 2013-2014 all-star games. Senior Lerro looks to finish his final season strong and maintain his performance.
#22 Michael Gwon – The Ramsey, New Jersey native, Gwon, is currently sitting in 3rd in the ECRHA DI scoring race with 32 points with 18 goals and 14 assists. Gwon’s consistent performance has been an extreme factor of this seasons success for the Huskies. The newly appointed Assistant Captain is making his All-star game premier this year and is looking to exceed any expectations for the rest of the season.
#30 Luke Lindsay-Brisbin – Lindsay-Brisbin, a Colorado Springs product maintains 7 wins in 8 games with a 2nd place in the ECRHA GAA of 3.00. This junior was selected for the DII All-star game in his first season of play last year. He has been selected as the second goaltender for the DI team.
#27 Conner Peterson – The Milford, CT native is a heavy shooter and has put up 14 goals and 8 assists. Peterson has overcome an ankle injury and a weight room accident. Despite this adversity, he has become the number 1 scorer on the B team. Peterson will also be representing the B team in the All-star game for the first time.
#35 Dane Osmanski – A repeat All-star, Osmanski has held down the B team between the pipes for 2 seasons. The Port Jefferson Station, NY product has put up 5 wins in 5 games with a 2.80 GAA. Osmanski is currently ranked 2nd in the ECRHA in Wins and Save Percentage and 3rd in Goals Against Average.
Congratulations to all of the huskies and good luck in the games to come. The Huskies look to continue their first semester success when they make their way to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for an interregional, and Feasterville, Pennsylvania for All-star weekend.
Huskies Come Out on Top in Feasterville
In Feasterville, PA the Huskies played some strong competition in teams they haven't yet faced. The DI team premiered their skills against the University of Pittsburgh, SUNY Brockport, and West Chester University. The B team played West Chester B for the first time.
The DI team finished the weekend with a 4-1-0 record. The only loss coming in a hard fought game against the University of Rhode Island 4-3. The victories, however, were all in decisive fashion regardless of game tempo. The Huskies beat Pittsburgh twice: 7-3 and 6-5, Brockport: 9-2, and West Chester: 8-4. Leading scorer for the Huskies ended up being Junior Michael Gwon. Gwon finished with 17 points on the weekend. This was good enough to earn him the Player of the week honors.
The B team only played 2 games this weekend due to a rink power outtage. Their game against the Temple University B team will be rescheduled to take place over All-Star weekend. In their two games, however, they won both, beating Slippery Rock B 9-5, and West Chester B 6-5. Ben Chianciola helped to lead the B team with his 5 points against Slippery Rock, and his game winner against West Chester. Ben earned player of the week honors as well.
The Huskies will head home for Christmas Break and come right back at it in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania for their next tournament. This tournament will be their interregional tourney for the year.
Huskies Battle in Long Island
In Old Bethpage the NU Huskies faced their toughest competition yet. Both the DI and B teams faced their first regular season losses this year. Both teams combined to play a total of 8 games.
The DI team finished the weekend with a 2-2-0 record. Despite playing hard for all 4 games they fell short to Neumann University and Hofstra University, losing 11-0 to Neumann and 8-6 to Hofstra. But the weekend was not without success. The Huskies beat Stony Brook University (7-4) and interregional guest University of Central Florida (7-6). Again Mike Gwon dominated scoring with 11 points over the weekend.
The B team came through the weekend with a winning record of 3-1-0. Their first loss coming in a back and forth contest with division competitor Rowan University (7-5), however they were able to capitalize against Neumann University (5-2), Hofstra University (5-1) and Stony Brook University (7-2). Scoring for the B was led by Conner Peterson’s 11 points over 4 games.
The Huskies next tournament will be in Feasterville, PA on November 23rd-24th. The Huskies will move into that tournament with heads held high, ready to take on their future competition.
Huskies Look to Continue Momentum into Long Island
With the first regular season tournament behind them, the Huskies look to continue their success in Long Island. As they travel to Bethpage with two undefeated records, the DI and B teams have a challenging weekend ahead of them.
The DI Huskies have four games in two days of which they'll be playing Neumann University, Stony Brook University, the University of Central Florida and Hofstra University. The Huskies will be looking to the more experienced veterans to put some points on the board. Especially in their first game against Neumann University, the proverbial team-to-beat in the ECRHA, and maybe even the country.
The B Huskies are riding high after their dominating performance in Rhode Island. They will be playing four games this weekend against Neumann University, Hofstra University, Stony Brook University and Rowan University. The Huskies expect good back and forth competition during the games and look forward to establishing themselves as a top competitor in the B division.

Break Out the Brooms: Huskies sweep Rhode Island Tournament
The Huskies broke open regular season play in Rhode Island this past weekend. DI and B played a collective 5 games over the course of 2 days.
The DI team swept competition notching victories against Stony Brook (4-1), Hofstra (7-2) and home team University of Rhode Island (6-4). The Huskies played strong throughout the weekend while still acclimating to Division I play. Over the weekend Husky scoring was dominated by linemates Mike Gwon and Robert Lerro combining for 20 points (12 G, 8 A). Goaltender Luke Lindsay-Brisbin made his awaited debut for the Huskies getting all three wins with an assist and a 2.33 GAA.
The B team had equal success dominating their competition outscoring opponents with a total of 18-3 in two games, beating Stony Brook B 10-0 and Hofstra B 8-3. B scoring was distributed through 4 players with 6 points or more. Rookies Glenn Wellman and Justin Saccone had 7 and 6 points a piece, while returning players Nick Price and Conner Peterson each had 6 points. Goaltender Dane Osmanski came through the weekend with a stellar 1.5 GAA and 1 shutout.
All together it was a strong performance from the entire Northeastern Program. The Huskies look to continue their success on the weekend of November 2nd where they travel to Long Island for their second regular season test.
Warwick, Rhode Island Preview
As the Huskies prepare to head out to Rhode Island to begin the regular season they hope they can build upon the successes and learn from the defeats faced in preseason competition. The DI Huskies will face off against: Stony Brook University, Hofstra University and home team University of Rhode Island. The B team boys will be playing: Stony Brook University and conference rival Hofstra University.
Headed in the DI team looks forward to the attendance of three members of the team missing from the preseason; Brayden Sparks, Jason Yeomelakis and Luke Lindsay-Brisbin. The huskies hope that the added fire power up front and the netminding efficiency in back will help them to start the year off right.
The B team is looking to draw confidence, strength and victory from their preseason trials. Neither game will be an easy win for the Huskies, but they look to persevere nonetheless.

Columbus Day Kickoff Results!
The Huskies entered preseason play over Columbus Day weekend in the annual ECRHA Columbus Day Kickoff Tournament.
The DI Huskies looked to get a feel for their new division competition with games against Temple University, Neumann University, and Stony Brook University. While the B Huskies looked to build chemistry between old members and new playing against Stony Brook University, Neumann University and Slippery Rock University.
The DI team played strong over its 3 games but came out with the losing record of 1-2-0. Losing to Temple and Neumann, 3-2 and 9-1, respectively, and winning 10-4 against Stony Brook. The leading point scorer for the Huskies was: Mike Gwon with 6 points (1 G, 5 A), player-netminder Niko Cunha stood between the pipes in the absence of Luke Lindsay-Brisbin.
The B team reaped more success in the preseason contests with an overall record of 2-1-0. Coming out victorious against Stony Brook and Neumann, 1-0 and 5-3, respectively. Their only defeat coming at the hands of Slippery Rock, 7-1. The leading point scorer for the Huskies was rookie Ben Chianciola who notched 3 points (2 G, 1 A). Goaltender Dane Osmanski recorded 60 total saves over the weekend and a Goals Against Average of 3.33.
