The Division I team is new to DI as it moved up from DII after it's run to the National Finals in the 2012-2013 season. In previous years before DI, Northeastern won the ECRHA Regional Tournament in DIII competition in 2009-2010, then, upon moving up to DII won the tournament in the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons. In the 2011-2012 season, the Huskies were a part of the Final Four at the National Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah. Then in 2012-2013 the Huskies were the National Runner-up in Fort Meyers, Florida. The B Program played it's inaugural season in 2012-2013, and was very successful for a new team. They were in the Final Four of their region and were selected as the first alternate to the National Tournament.
